About The Author

Steve Flink

Steve Flink has been reporting on tennis since 1974, when he joined the staff of World Tennis Magazine at the age of 22. Born in California and raised in Connecticut and New York, he became thoroughly immersed in watching tennis starting in 1965 when he went to Wimbledon for the first time at 12. Later in his teens, he began working behind the scenes with leading journalists and broadcasters in his field as a statistician.

Flink later served as a statistician for all of the major American television networks and as a commentator for the Madison Square Garden and ESPN networks in the 1980s and 1990s. He also reported on the radio for CBS from the French Open and Wimbledon from 1982-2009.

But writing is his mainstay. He has authored four books previously, including “The Greatest Tennis Matches of All Time” and “Pete Sampras: Greatness Revisited.” After working at World Tennis Magazine for seventeen years as a writer and serving as Editor of that publication in 1990-91, he regularly wrote for Tennis Week Magazine from 1992-2007 and for tennischannel.com and tennis.com from 2007-2021. He is currently a columnist for Racquet Sports Industry Magazine as well as ubitennis.com. Flink has also contributed tennis pieces for The Independent in London and The New York Times.

Flink was inducted at the International Tennis Hall of Fame as a contributor in 2017, after being enshrined at the Eastern Tennis Hall of Fame seven years earlier. He lives in Katonah, New York.
