This volume covers infantry regiments within King George III’s army, for the period 1793 to 1815: the Foot Guards and Regiments of Foot, from the 1st to the 30th. There are more than 1,000 brief biographies of field officers, lieutenant colonels and majors. The initial chapters are helpful for those who are new to researching their military ancestors…..For family historians, this book offers great detail and the possibility to break down brick walls. For each person, there are usually dates of birth and death, parents’ names, education, military career, awards and honours, and where they lived.

Author STEVE BROWN has an interest in Napoleonic studies dating back to his teenage years; he has amassed a collection of about 2,000 volumes on the subject, with a particular focus on the British Army. Since 2009 has been a frequent contributor to the Napoleon Series, his main contribution being the highly-regarded British Regiments and the Men Who Led Them series, as well as a book reviewer. In 2015 he presented at the Waterloo 200 conference of the Royal Australian Historical Society.
