Sir James Bisset (1883-1967) was a distinguished British mariner who rose from apprentice sailor to become Commodore of the Cunard White Star Line. Beginning his career under sail aboard the County of Pembroke, he later commanded iconic ocean liners such as the RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth, including during World War II, when he was responsible for transporting nearly half a million troops.
