Sherry Brourman
Sherry Brourman is a movement educator with 50 years of experience. She began volunteering at a school for handicapped children at age 12 and later graduated from Boston University as a physical therapist in 1973. Her early work evaluating disabled children sparked her interest in the benefits of movement education. At Rusk Institute in NYC, she developed skills for working with pain and long-term rehabilitation. In 1975, she opened the first private physical therapy office in New Mexico, where she began teaching yoga to patients. Her study of walking led to her book, Walk Yourself Well, in 1998. Sherry then taught a course for professionals on yoga injuries and functional anatomy for the Loyola Marymount University Yoga Therapy program. These courses inspired her upcoming book, From Bodily Knowledge to Intuitive Movement, Where Physical Therapy, Yoga Therapy and Pain Science Meet, (SD 2025). Sherry continues to practice and explore these concepts as a lifelong journey.
