Description

Confident people react positively and successfully to the problems and challenges of life. But those who lack confidence often resort to blaming or bingeing behavior—viewing themselves as victims or using drugs, alcohol, sex, or food to mask their feelings of shame and worthlessness.

Instead of continuously muting negative feelings with antidepressants, psychotherapist Sheenah Hankin suggests that we can permanently replace our losing attitudes with winning habits, that can make us feel better about ourselves. With candid and engaging strategies for success and insightful quizzes to help readers assess their own emotional health, Hankin shows that by recognizing how we let familiar feelings keep us down, we can learn to break the cycle of self-doubt, and instead choose to value ourselves and to make rational, adult decisions.
