About The Author

Sawyer Cloud

Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant is a wildlife ecologist specializing in how human activity impacts carnivore behavior and ecology. She holds a BS in environmental studies from Emory University, an MS in environmental studies from Yale University, and a PhD in ecology and evolution from Columbia University.

Dr. Wynn-Grant is a Research Fellow with the National Geographic Society, where she has appeared on televised nature programs and completed a 20-city speaking tour for Nat Geo Live. She is also a member of The North Face’s Explore Fund Council, co-hosts Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom: Protecting the Wild on NBC, and hosts the podcast Going Wild with Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant, produced by PBS. Her work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Forbes, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times. She resides in California.

Sawyer Cloud is a self-taught artist born and raised in Madagascar. Her artistic passion is fueled by a deep interest in the power of dreams and freedom. Her previous illustration credits include The Juneteenth Story by Alliah L. Agostini and Sugar Pie Lullaby by Carole Boston Weatherford. Sawyer enjoys music and has a lifelong ambition to travel the world.
