Sarika Jain

Dr. Sarika Jain

Dr. Sarika Jain holds a doctorate in Knowledge Representation in Artificial Intelligence from Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), awarded in 2011. With over 19 years of experience in education, she is currently an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (Institute of National Importance), India. Dr. Jain has authored/co-authored over 100 publications, including books. Her research interests encompass Knowledge Management and Analytics, Semantic Web, Ontological Engineering, and Intelligent Systems.

She has supervised two doctoral scholars who are now pursuing post-doctoral research in Spain and Germany, respectively. Currently, she is guiding 15 Master’s and Doctoral students in Knowledge Representation. Dr. Jain serves as a reviewer for journals from IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer and has been a program and steering committee member for numerous prestigious conferences globally.

Dr. Jain has led two research projects: an ongoing project funded by CRIS TEQUIP-III (Rs 2.58 lakhs) and a completed project funded by DRDO, India (Rs 40 lakhs). She also applied for a patent in November 2019. Her administrative experience includes roles such as Head of Department, Hostel Warden, Faculty Incharge of technical and cultural fests, member of the Research Degree Committee, and Center Incharge Examinations.

She has presented her research in the United Kingdom and Singapore and regularly supervises DAAD interns from German universities and interns from India. Dr. Jain collaborates with international researchers from Germany, Austria, Australia, Malaysia, the United States, Romania, and other countries. She has organized various challenges, conferences, and workshops, including NITC, GIAN by MHRD, ISIC, ICSCC, ICACCT, ICECCS, and EWAD. She is a member of IEEE and ACM, and a Life Member of the Computer Society of India (CSI), the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), and the International Association of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT). Dr. Jain is keen on global collaborations and seeks scholars and interns for her research group.

Dr. Sonika Malik

Dr. Sonika Malik earned her doctorate from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra in 2022. She completed her Master’s in 2010 and B. Tech in 2004 from Kurukshetra University, India. With 17 years of experience in education, she is currently an Assistant Professor at Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology, a position she has held since 2007. Her research interests lie in Semantic Web, Knowledge Representation, and Ontology Engineering and Design.

Dr. Malik is a skilled educator with extensive experience teaching computer and IT subjects to engineering graduate students. She possesses significant research experience in the Semantic Web, with published articles in various international journals and conferences, as well as book chapters in publications of international repute. She has also reviewed papers for numerous journals and conferences and organized special sessions at international conferences.

Dr. Pascal Hitzler

Dr. Pascal Hitzler is a University Distinguished Professor and the endowed Lloyd T. Smith Creativity in Engineering Chair in the Department of Computer Science at Kansas State University. He is also one of the Directors of the Institute for Digital Agriculture and Advanced Analytics (ID3A) and the Director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDS). Prior to July 2019, he was an endowed NCR Distinguished Professor, Brage Golding Distinguished Professor of Research, and Director of Data Science at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Wright State University. He is the director of the Data Semantics (DaSe) Lab.

From 2004 to 2009, he served as Akademischer Rat at the Institute for Applied Informatics and Formal Description Methods (AIFB) at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. From 2001 to 2004, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Artificial Intelligence institute at TU Dresden in Germany. In 2001, he obtained a PhD in Mathematics from the National University of Ireland, University College Cork, and in 1998, a Diplom (Master equivalent) in Mathematics from the University of Tübingen in Germany.

His research portfolio includes over 400 publications in diverse areas such as neurosymbolic artificial intelligence, semantic web, knowledge graphs, knowledge representation and reasoning, denotational semantics, and set-theoretic topology. His work is highly cited. He was the founding Editor-in-chief of the Semantic Web journal and is the founding Editor-in-chief of the new Neurosymbolic Artificial Intelligence journal and the IOS Press book series Studies on the Semantic Web. He is a co-author of the W3C Recommendation OWL 2 Primer and the book Foundations of Semantic Web Technologies (CRC Press, 2010), which was recognized as an Outstanding Academic Title by the American Library Association’s Choice Magazine and has been translated into German and Chinese.

Dr. Hitzler has authored 5 books, edited 9 books providing state-of-the-art overviews, and edited 15 conference proceedings books. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals and book series. He is a founding steering committee member of the Neural-Symbolic Learning and Reasoning Association and the Association for Ontology Design and Patterns, and frequently serves in various conference chair capacities.
