About The Author
Sandra Lawrence
Sandra Lawrence is an author and journalist who has written about gardens for various publications, including The Daily Telegraph, The Times, English Garden, LandScape, Garden News, Modern Gardens, Hortus, and British Heritage. Her seventeen books include The Witch’s Garden (2019), The Magic of Mushrooms (2022), and Anthology of Amazing Women (2018). She is also the author of Miss Willmott’s Ghosts (2022), a biography of Edwardian plantswoman Ellen Ann Willmott. The ruined garden of Ellen Ann Willmott fueled Sandra’s childhood fantasies of treasure hunting in lost gardens.
Lucille Clerc is a French illustrator based in London. Her work primarily focuses on editorial design and book illustration, with occasional projects in interior and exhibition space design. Her art is inspired by the natural world, as well as the streets and architecture of London.
