Samuel J. Newland
Samuel J. Newland holds a PhD in modern European history from the University of Kansas. He served at the US Army War College both as an analyst and, later, professor. Most recently, he directed the Military Studies program at Washburn University. Newland dedicated 15 years to the creation of this work, including research trips to Germany and Austria, along with numerous archives and collections in the United States.
