– Monica Russell * Knitwear designer and teacher *Baa-rilliant Knits by Sachiyo Ishii is really colourful and contains knitting patterns to create Shaun the sheep and his farmyard friends. With 10 characters including the farmer, dog, pigs, goat, llama and several sheep characters up to 8” tall. The patterns are illustrated with scenes from the films. They are easy to follow with supplies lists and finished size guides, some have pictorial instructions but not all of them. The start of the book has useful information on yarns used and knitting know how such as stitches and tension and tips for sewing up and stuffing. If you like making stuffed toys and have a fan of Shaun the Sheep in the family these will be a great set of toys to make. The author suggests embroidering eyes and other features if giving to a small child.
* Jackie from Half Yard Sewing Club *Starting with the title - an excellent play on words for an excellent, original book, that is lots of fun. The book contains eleven patterns for characters from Shaun the Sheep, well supported with close up photographs showing how to construct the characters. There are also lovely photographs showing the characters ‘in situ’, which are funny and entertaining. Clear instructions are present along with lists of materials used, basic knitting stitches, and detailed information showing how to assemble the characters. For existing fans of Shaun the Sheep, or those new to him, this is a book packed with projects to have fun with.
* Jayne from Half Yard Sewing Club *10 ewe-nique Shaun the Sheep characters to knit. A lovely fun book with actual photographs from the animated show and illustrated with some apt sketches. This is a wonderfully presented soft back book with clear printed instructions and colour photos on good quality paper. Before you start there are informative pages on equipment, basic knitting tips and construction. Each character has its parts, clothes and accessories laid out in an easy to read section supported by photographs. A super gift for a fan or a great incentive to learn to knit and produce your own flock and friends. An irresistible book of makes.
* Sandra from Half Yard Sewing Club *Shaun The Sheep Baa-rilliant Knits by Sachiyo Ishii is a delightful book. Thank you Sachiyo for going to the trouble of creating the knitting patterns for the characters of Shaun the Sheep. The patterns include Shaun (up right and on all fours), the Farmer, Bitzer, Timmy and his teddy bear, Timmy’s Mum, the Naughty Pigs, Mower Mouth, Raul, Shirley and The Twins along with their accessories.
There are excellent photos of the knits, with some good close-ups for assembling the characters and, just for fun, stills from the actual cartoon dotted throughout the book. The pattern instructions are clear and easy to follow. Sachiyo includes chapters on Materials & Tools, Basic Knitting Know-how, Sewing & Stitches and Sewing Up & Stuffing, so the basics are there before you get knitting.
The patterns use mainly knit and purl stitches and increase and decrease stitches to make the shapes, so if you’re a knitter you’ll find it a breeze. For a complete novice to knitting you may need to look into how to cast on and off before you get started as these techniques are not covered in the book. Sachiyo provides info on the materials she has used and gives knitting needle sizes in UK, US and millimetres.
I think if you enjoy knitting and like Shaun the Sheep you will have fun creating these characters for yourself or someone else.

It is well worth the money and full of fun, it made me smile.
* Blodwen from Half Yard Sewing Club *Ideal for confident knitters, this book has essential techniques and stitches, with clear instructions for making the characters stand upright and a full step-by-step construction guide. The patterns are easy-to-follow, packed with photos for easy reference and any tricky elements are broken down into step-by-step images.

She covers materials and tools as well as the basics of knitting and clear examples of stitches and embroidery you need in addition to create these marvellous characters.
