Russell N. Myers
Russell Myers served as chaplain for over thirty-one years, including eighteen years at Allina Health Emergency Medical Services, based in Minneapolis. There he charted the course for the future of professional ambulance service chaplaincy by riding along with paramedics and EMTs, sitting alongside dispatchers, listening, responding and caring. He articulated the why and the how of EMS chaplaincy in his teaching, writing and mentoring.
In recognition of his work, Chaplain Myers was awarded the 2025 Pioneer Medal for Outstanding Leadership in Health Care by the HealthCare Chaplaincy Network, and the 2026 Distinguished Service Award by the Association of Professional Chaplains.
