About The Author
Russell Arnott
Russell Arnott (co-author) studied at the National Oceanography Centre and after working as a commercial oceanographer, eventually retrained to become a science teacher. Leaving formal education to form Incredible Oceans, a marine education non-profit, Russell is also a researcher at the University of Bath where he studies plankton dynamics. He is also on the board of directors for the European Marine Science Educators’ Association.
Celine van Weelden (co-author) worked with the World Cetacean Alliance and its educational partner, Incredible Oceans, for several years during which she acted as a marine educator and science communicator with marine organizations across the globe, including Raggy Charters (South Africa), Dolphin Encountours Research Centre (Mozambique) and Earthcare St. Kilda (Australia). Having studied Environmental Sciences at Leiden University College NL, Celine’s expertise and passion focuses on the impacts of climate change on marine mammals.
Maya Plass (foreword) has been a dedicated marine science communicator and educator for over twenty years. During this time she has established her own marine education business, digressed into TV broadcasting and become an author of seashore books. Ultimately, her experience and passion in communicating marine science has led her to become Head of Communications at The Marine Biological Association (Devon, UK).
