Rosslyn Macphail
Rosslyn Macphail is the great great granddaughter of Captain John Orr. She discovered John’s campaign diary, which he wrote while fighting with the Black Watch in the Peninsular War, in a cabin trunk containing family papers, and decided to find out more about him. She has given lectures about John Orr and the Scottish Naval & Military Academy in the Watt Library in Greenock, John Orr’s home town, and to the Renfrewshire Family History Society in Paisley. Rosslyn Macphail lives in Edinburgh, where the Academy was also based.
