Robert Van Gulik
Robert van Gulik (1910-1967) was a Dutch diplomat who dedicated most of his life to the Far East. He was a renowned authority on Chinese history and culture. His extensive bibliography includes sixteen Judge Dee mysteries, all set in Tang Dynasty China, as well as a study of the gibbon in China and two books on the Chinese lute.
