About The Author
Robert McCloskey
Robert McCloskey (1914-2003) was an author and illustrator known for his highly acclaimed children’s books. He spent his formative years in Hamilton, Ohio, and later lived in Boston, New York, and Maine.
McCloskey was the first author to win the Caldecott Medal twice, for Make Way for Ducklings and Time of Wonder. He also received Caldecott Honors for Blueberries for Sal, One Morning in Maine, and Journey Cake, Ho! by Ruth Sawyer.
In 2000, he was recognized as a Living Legend by the Library of Congress. His beloved characters can be found as statues in Boston’s Public Garden and Lentil Park in Hamilton, Ohio.
