Critics Review

A gem of a book. This is a must for practitioners and assessors alike. Clear, concise and comprehensive in its coverage of the indicators of dyscalculia. The addition of intervention advice is a very welcome one and makes this book an invaluable resource for assessing maths difficulties and dyscalculia. – Judy Hornigold , Director of Specialist Teacher Training Ltd and Dyscalculia AssociationNumeracy is such an important foundational skill for children’s futures, and the science of learning is providing us with increasing insights into how it develops. Emerson and Jennings have provided a crucial tool for educators to pick up children who are struggling, and to assess the benefits of interventions to support children’s progress. – Professor Michael S. C. Thomas, Director of the University of London Centre for Educational NeuroscienceAn indispensable resource. I firmly believe that the best grounding for understanding and helping students with learning differences is found in the classroom, where one has the chance to watch and listen to learners as they think through their developing understanding of numeracy. This book gives teachers the guidance to develop those skills. – Steve Chinn PhD, FRSA, AMBDA, author of The Trouble with Maths
