About The Author
Robbie Shaw
Robbie Shaw was educated at Govan High School in Glasgow. He developed a passion for aircraft at twelve, after attending the last air show at Royal Naval Air Station Abbotsinch (HMS Sanderling), now Glasgow International Airport. In March 1969, he joined the Royal Air Force as an Assistant Air Traffic Controller. After Air Traffic Controller training, he served at Brawdy, Scampton (as the Central Flying School (CFS) base after its move from Leeming), Sek Kong (Hong Kong), and Benson. He left the RAF in 1991 and, in 1992, began a nineteen-year career at Gatwick, retiring in 2011. An avid aircraft photographer, he travelled extensively, and enjoyed many flights in military aircraft, including seven with F-4 Phantom units (six RAF, one USAF).
