Eighth grade is almost over - Finally!
The GirlZ are gearing up for some summer fun, but Lucy's plan for her vacation is more than just about a trip to the beach. She and her family are returning to Florida for the first time since they moved to Massachusetts, not long after her dad had died. Lucy misses her father. She sees the return trip as a chance to learn more about him, except her mom is apprehensive for some reason.
And there is the drama at school - A mysterious boy has moved into town, Mia is drifting away from the GirlZ and Lucy feels like she lets everybody down for events she can't control.
Then one evening, everything changes when, impossibly, Lucy swears that she sees her dad on her way home from school, sending her on an adventure she never imagined, while breaking about a thousand rules along the way.
