René Staud is the grand seigneur of automotive photography. His big breakthrough came in 1985 with the development of Magicflash®, a lighting system specially tailored to the needs of studio photography. It is still state of the art today and part of the secret behind the characteristic Staud style. This innovative surface lighting technology was his entry into automotive photography. Over the years, he has had the models of all major brands in front of his lens. Several bestsellers by René Staud have been published by teNeues, such as The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Book, The Porsche 911 Book, and Porsche - A Passion for Power.

After studying German and English language and literature and years as an apprentice at the magazine “auto, motor und sport,” Jürgen Lewandowski was head of the technology department at the magazine “hobby” before joining the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” in Munich as head of the car and traffic department. Since then, he has worked as an author and correspondent for several publications worldwide. In addition to his work as an observer and chronicler of today’s automotive scene, he has been involved with automotive history for decades. In the course of the past 35 years, Jürgen Lewandowski—whose library now comprises more than 45 books on the subject of cars—has initiated, written, and edited around 100 books on the history of the automobile and the development of new model series. Jürgen Lewandowski lives and works in Munich.
