Regis Loisel
Régis Loisel is a highly regarded French cartoonist known for his influential work in bande dessinée. He began his career in the 1970s and has become one of the most decorated figures in contemporary French comics. Loisel’s storytelling is noted for its emotional depth and inventive fantasy worlds, gaining international recognition through works like La Quête de l’oiseau du temps (The Quest for the Time-Bird) and later Le Grand Mort, which he co-wrote.
Jean-Blaise Djian collaborates with Loisel on the scripting of Le Grand Mort. While less widely profiled in English sources, credits list him as a co-writer alongside Loisel across the series, contributing to its narrative depth and worldbuilding.
Vincent Mallié, born in Paris, is a French illustrator and comic artist celebrated for his expressive visual style. After early work on series such as Hong Kong Triad and Les Aquanautes, he began collaborating with Régis Loisel and Jean-Blaise Djian on Le Grand Mort in 2007. His artwork drives the series’ atmospheric fantasy landscapes and character expressions.
François Lapierre was born in Quebec in 1970. After studying art and graphic design, he embarked on a career in acrylic painting that led to his participation in various solo and group exhibitions. In 1996, François began a career in animation. However, driven by a desire to tell stories, he dove headfirst into his childhood dream: comic books. He thus set about developing a style and a universe he had long imagined—a project that would eventually become Sagah-Nah, published by Soleil. François Lapierre is also well known for his coloring work on Magasin Général by Loisel and Tripp, as well as on Julius, published by Glénat. Most recently, he wrote and illustrated the first volume of the Chroniques sauvages series—titled Teshkan—published by Glénat Québec.
