The Soldier’s Amnesia: Love and Loss After the Great War
Returning from the horrors of World War I, a shell-shocked officer arrives at his English estate, his memories lost in the trenches. Three women await him: a perceptive cousin who narrates the story, his beautiful wife whom he doesn’t remember, and a past love from fifteen years ago.
Rebecca West’s novel explores the profound impact of war on a protected society, bypassing battlefield depictions to focus on the emotion…
