About The Author
Ramesh Singh
Ramesh Singh is a Professor in the School of Life & Environmental Sciences at Chapman University, USA. He previously served as a Professor at George Mason University, Virginia, USA (2007-2009), and as a Distinguished Visiting Professor with the Centre of Earth Observing Space Research (2003-2005). From 1986 to 2007, he was a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. His primary research interests include Natural Hazards, Seismic Risk evaluation, the Urban environment, and Atmospheric pollution. He has supervised Master’s and Ph.D. students in Remote Sensing, Engineering Geosciences, Natural Hazards, Atmospheric pollution, and Applied Geophysics.
Dr. Singh has authored over 200 journal publications and edited several books. He is a recipient of the Indian National Remote Sensing, National Mineral, and Hari Om Ashram Prerit awards. He has been an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Free University Berlin, Germany, and a JSPS Fellow at Hirosaki University, Japan. He is a member of the International Committees on GeoRisk Commission and the EMSEV Bureau. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Geomatics, Natural Hazards and Risk, Associate Editor of the International Journal of Remote Sensing, and was the past Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Remote Sensing.
Ashwani Raju is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at Banaras Hindu University, India. He has held various academic research, mapping, and exploration roles, including Senior Geologist at the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Ministry of Mines, Government of India (2011-2017). He was also a DST-SERB Fellow at Chapman University, USA, from September 2023 to March 2024.
His research focuses on mapping and monitoring Earth resources using advanced remote sensing techniques. His areas of interest include the application of Remote Sensing and GIS in mapping and monitoring Earth resources, with specialization in thermal and microwave remote sensing, GIS, and field geology. He has published in numerous reputable journals. As a faculty member at Banaras Hindu University, his teaching interests encompass Physical Geology, Geomorphology, and Theoretical Remote Sensing, along with Earth and its Atmosphere. He has supervised 11 master’s theses and is currently supervising 3 Ph.D. theses in the field of natural hazards.
