Critic Reviews

Educational Leadership in the 21st century is night and day different than it was when I first started my career as an administrator. Today's educational leader must be people oriented, value their people's views, and empower them to be shared decision makers. It will always be the people transformed that make the biggest impact. This book shows leaders explains how.

--Duane Merideth, Superintendent, Durant (OK) Independent School District

In Peopled Leadership: Growing People and Transforming Organizations, R. Stewart Mayers and his colleagues present a much-needed view of what it takes to lead schools--transparency, risk-taking, and collaboration. Through thoughtful analysis authors Mayers, Anderson, and Williams bring hope and optimism required now more than ever. Readers will be inspired by the messages built on trust, courage, empathy, and the absolute necessity to be a responsible and peopled leader. This is a book that I unconditionally recommend and will consult regularly.

--Sally J. Zepeda, PhD, College of Education, University of Georgia

My father, the late Stephen R Covey, used to say, "Leadership is communicating to people their worth and potential so clearly that they come to see it in themselves." I have always believed this to be true and that is why I am so fascinated with this new book from Mayers, Anderson, and Williams called Peopled Leadership: Growing People and Transforming Organizations. Within these timely pages, these academic authors brilliantly reveal how qualities like trust, transparency, collaboration, knowledge, listening and gratitude are essential to help people build relationships and become leaders. Filled with educational case studies and thought-provoking questions, this book prioritizes the most important aspects of true leadership on both a personal and organizational level. An excellent read.

--Sean Covey, President, FranklinCovey Education

Peopled Leadership is the right book at the right time, and a must-have for every person in a leadership role. Mayers, Anderson, and Williams have done the extensive research for us, presenting and synthesizing best practices into a vision for a new way of leading. In a world of chaotic disruption and fast-paced change, Peopled Leadership has the power to transform our organizations and lead us into a healthier future.
