What I find most fascinating in Stefano Micali’s new book is not the secrets he reveals about how to succeed in philosophy, but the hermeneutics he applies to successful philosophers. I’m certain that Giorgio Agamben, Slavoj Žižek, and Martha Nussbaum would be very surprised to learn how Micali exposes their dominant argumentative strategies. This is both conceptually agile and refreshingly ironic.
