PopOut Maps
PopOut was founded in 1993 by Derek Dacey, who aimed to cure ‘Map Stress Syndrome’ after observing tourists struggling with oversized maps in Bath, England. Inspired by the miniature charts he used as a commercial pilot, he assembled a design team to create a user-friendly city map. The first PopOut Map, covering Bath, was released in 1993. Following initial success, a research trip to the USA led to a redesigned layout with strong photo images, high-quality printing, and laminated covers. This trip also marked the expansion of the PopOut range to US destinations like Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. Today, PopOut produces over 100 titles for major destinations worldwide.
