PopOut Maps
PopOut was founded in 1993 by Derek Dacey. After observing tourists struggling with large maps in Bath, England, he sought to create a more user-friendly solution, inspired by the miniature charts he used as a commercial pilot. He assembled a team of designers to develop the PopOut map. The first PopOut Map, for Bath, was released in 1993 and sold in local gift shops. Following initial success, a research trip to the USA led to a redesigned layout featuring high-quality printing, laminated covers, and strong photo images. This trip also resulted in the first US destinations covered in the PopOut range: Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, and Washington DC, which were instantly successful. Today, PopOut produces over 100 titles for major destinations and is popular among travelers worldwide.
