Critics Review

Praise for Paramahansa Yogananda:

“The 20th century’s first superstar guru.” —The Los Angeles Times

“Everyone who meditates, goes to yoga classes or has, in any way, benefitted from India’s great spiritual heritage, owes a debt of gratitude to Yogananda… . His success can be attributed to several factors, in addition to his seminal autobiography: his long tenure in this country, his personal charisma, his results-driven package of offerings, and his appeal to both secular and religious students.” —Philip Goldberg, HuffPost

“If you practica yoga, thank this man. … Yogananda’s influence can still be felt on popular culture—his face and the faces of his three gurus appear on the cover of the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album—and on contemporary thought; Apple founder Steve Jobs requested that everyone who attended his memorial service be given a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi.” —The Detroit News

About The Author

Paramahansa Yogananda

Paramahansa Yogananda was a Hindu monk, guru, and yogi. Yogananda is credited for enlightening millions of people in America and the Western world to the benefits of yoga and meditation. Born in India, he immigrated to the US at the age of twenty-seven to teach Eastern philosophy to the West. He rapidly became a prominent influential figure in the yoga culture in Los Angeles and traveled the world preaching his principles. He is the author of the bestselling classic, Autobiography of a Yogi, which has sold more than four million copies and has been hailed as one of the “100 best spiritual books of the twentieth century.” Biographer Philip Goldberg considers him “one of the best known and most beloved of all Indian spiritual teachers.” He passed away in 1952. Medical experts concluded that the cause of death was a heart attack, but disciples claimed he entered mahasamadhi, a yogi’s conscious exit from the body.

Sayer Ji is a pioneering advocate for natural healing and integrative medicine. His groundbreaking book, Regenerate: Unlocking Your Body’s Radical Resilience Through the New Biology, has garnered international acclaim for its exploration of the human body’s innate ability to heal and regenerate. As a passionate defender of health rights, Ji co-founded Stand For Health Freedom, a non-profit organization committed to safeguarding basic human, constitutional, and parental rights. His visionary approach extends to the realm of conscious creation, as evidenced by his launch of Unite.live, a multimedia platform that empowers conscious creators and their communities to express themselves freely and overcome censorship. Ji’s unwavering dedication to holistic wellness, ancient wisdom, and the integration of traditional healing systems with modern science resonates deeply with the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, making his contribution to the one-hundred-year anniversary edition of Scientific Healing Affirmations a fitting tribute to timeless wisdom and a guiding light for generations to come.
