Formafantasma is a research-based design studio founded in 2009 by Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin. The studio investigates the ecological, historical, political, and social forces shaping the discipline of design today, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of our natural and built environments and propose transformative interventions. Working from Milan and Rotterdam, their practice encompasses product and spatial design, strategic planning, and consultancy, characterized by a coherent visual language and meticulously researched outcomes. Trimarchi and Farresin also head the GEO–Design department at Design Academy Eindhoven.

Alessandro Rabottini is a writer and contemporary art curator. He has edited monographs on leading artists and curated exhibitions for international institutions, including solo shows of Karimah Ashadu, Talia Chetrit, Roe Ethridge, Guido Guidi, Walid Raad, and Danh Vo. He is the Artistic Director of the Fondazione In Between Art Film.

Paola Antonelli is Senior Curator of Architecture & Design at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and founding Director of Research & Development at MoMA. She is a co-founder of Design Emergency, an ongoing investigation into design’s power to envision a better future.

Alice Rawsthorn is an award-winning design critic and author, known for her books Design as an Attitude and Design Emergency: Building a Better Future (co-written with Paola Antonelli). She wrote a syndicated weekly design column for The New York Times for over a decade and is a co-founder of the Design Emergency podcast.

Hans Ulrich Obrist is a curator, critic, and historian of art, serving as the Artistic Director of the Serpentine in London. Previously, he was Curator at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. He has curated over 300 exhibitions since 1991.

Hella Jongerius is a leading designer recognized for her research-driven approach to uniting craftsmanship and industrial production. She founded her studio Jongeriuslab in 1993 and has worked on commissioned projects for Vitra, Maharam, and the United Nations Headquarters, among others. Her archive was acquired by the Vitra Design Museum in 2024.

Marianne Goebl specializes in developing and disseminating projects at the intersection of culture and commerce. Since 2014, she has been managing director of the Finnish design company Artek. She previously served as director of Design Miami and spent a decade at Vitra.

Domitilla Dardi is a historian and independent curator of design. Since 2007, she has been Professor of History of Design at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Rome and has published widely.

Anna Tsing is an anthropologist and professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and Aarhus University. She is the author of The Mushroom at the End of the World: On the Possibility of Life in Capitalist Ruins and co-editor of Feral Atlas: The More-than-Human Anthropocene.

Emanuele Coccia is a philosopher and lecturer at EHESS. He has held visiting professorships at numerous universities globally and has participated in the creation of animated videos, including Quercus (2020) with Formafantasma.

Andrés Jaque is Dean and Professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP). He is the founder of the architecture practice Office for Political Innovation (OFFPOLINN).
