About The Author
Oxford Languages
Dr. Amelia Stone is a historian specializing in 18th-century British social history, with a particular focus on the lives of women and the development of consumer culture. She received her Ph.D. from Yale University and is currently a Professor of History at the University of California, Berkeley. Her publications include “The Lady and the Shopkeeper: Women and Commerce in Georgian England” and “Domestic Life in the Age of Reason.” Dr. Stone is also a frequent contributor to historical journals and magazines, and she has appeared on several television documentaries. She lives in Berkeley, California, with her family.
