About The Author
NisiOisiN
NisiOisin, born in 1981, is one of Japan’s most successful authors. He dropped out of Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto to pursue a career in storytelling. Initially aspiring to be a comic artist, he shifted his focus to writing and won the 23rd Mephisto Prize for Decapitation at the age of 20. Since his debut in 2002, Nisio has written over 50 novels and numerous comics. He has become one of Japan’s top-selling authors, with over 5 million units sold since 2009. In both 2012 and 2014, he was the top-selling author in Japan. Nishio’s works often explore themes of youth within familiar genres, blending mystery with comedy and elements of romance and/or the supernatural. He is known for experimenting with the Japanese language. Many of his works have been adapted into animated television series and films. His best-known works include the Monogatari series and Katanagatari.
