About The Author
NisiOisiN
NisiOisin, born in 1981, is one of Japan’s most successful authors. He dropped out of Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto to pursue a career in storytelling. Initially aiming to be a comic artist, he shifted his focus to writing, eventually winning the 23rd Mephisto Prize for Decapitation at the age of 20, recognizing his talent as a mystery writer. Since his debut in 2002, Nisio has penned more than 50 novels and several comics, becoming one of Japan’s top-selling authors, with over 5 million units sold since 2009. In both 2012 and 2014, he was the top-selling author in Japan. Nisio’s works often explore themes of youth within familiar genres, mixing mystery with comedy and elements of romance and/or the supernatural. He is a modern author who sometimes experiments with the Japanese language itself. Many of his works have been adapted into animated television series and films. His best-known works include the Monogatari series and Katanagatari.
