About The Author
NisiOisiN
NisiOisin, born in 1981, is one of Japan’s most successful authors. He dropped out of Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto to pursue a career in storytelling, initially aiming to be a comic artist. After realizing his artistic limitations, he focused on writing, winning the 23rd Mephisto Prize for Decapitation at age 20, recognizing his talents as a mystery writer. Since his debut in 2002, Nisio has written over 50 novels and several comics, becoming a top-selling author in Japan with over 5 million units sold since 2009. In both 2012 and 2014, he was the top-selling author in Japan. Nishio’s works often explore themes of youth within familiar genres, blending mystery with comedy, romance, and/or the supernatural. He experiments with the Japanese language, and many of his works have been adapted into animated television series and films. His best-known works include the Monogatari series and Katanagatari.
