Nikole Hannah-Jones
Nikole Hannah-Jones is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who covers racial injustice for The New York Times Magazine and is the creator of the seminal The 1619 Project. In 2017, she received a MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant. She has also won a Peabody Award, two George Polk Awards, three National Magazine Awards, and Columbia University’s 2018 John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism. In 2016, Nikole co-founded the Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting.
Renee Watson is a New York Times bestselling author. Her middle-grade novel Piecing Me Together received a Newbery Honor Award and a Coretta Scott King Award. Her children’s books include Harlem’s Little Blackbird: The Story of Florence Mills and Ways to Make Sunshine. Renee is on the writing advisory board for the National Writing Project and is a member of the advisory board for the Academy of American Poets.
Nikkolas Smith is an artivist, a children’s book author, and a Hollywood film illustrator. He is the author-illustrator of The Golden Girls of Rio, My Hair Is Poofy & That’s Okay, and World Cup Women. Many of his viral sketches have been shared worldwide and have been included in Sunday Sketch: The Art of Nikkolas. Nikkolas speaks about artivism worldwide, facilitating workshops on digital painting, character, and movie poster design.
