Join our imperfect club of parents, all trying our best to work out what the f*** we are doing, having found ourselves bringing up teenagers.
As we navigate the next part of our journey one conversation at a time, you will find moments of comfort, practical approaches, humour and some home truths.
I am not insinuating it will be an easy ride, but maybe that’s part of the fun of it?
If all else fails, at least within the pages of this book, we are all in it together.
Honest and informative, raw and thought provoking.
An absolute must for every parent navigating the
precarious road from child to teen.
- Olga Thompson - Comedian
This book offers thoughtful, purposeful solutions
and optimism into the mix, at a time that is often
riddled with frustration and despair. A very real - but
not patronising or twee - human voice that cuts
through the chaos. Can’t think of a better companion.
- Sarah Burbedge - Former Head of Change BBC
“This is not your average parenting book. It’s raw with real scenarios happening to real people. I wish I had it when my children, and more importantly myself, were going through possibly one of the most overwhelming times of my life! A must read for anyone preparing to or going through these crucial stages of parenting.”
—Shenda Longfoot
“As a psychotherapist that works with teenagers and their parents, I have found this book to be like no other I have read. And I have read a lot of books in my time.
This is a must for any parent.
It’s thought and conversation provoking in the most wonderful of ways.”
—Kirsty Hurrell, Psychotherapist

Nicole Howes is a book editor, brand content consultant, company director and mum of two.
Her love of books was clear from a young age, reading for hours, delving into stories with curiosity and exploring the deeper narratives. This passion for words and need to ask questions has continued into her professional life. From her hometown of Norwich, Nicole splits her time between writing her own work, carefully curating corporate tone of voice and editing books for other authors.
Nicole is working to create a future for her son and daughter where they feel safe to ask questions too, in fostering this environment she recognised a requirement for this approach on a much larger scale. This drive for change led to Nicole founding The Quash in 2023, a community set up to support educators and parents alike to prioritise question led learning and encourage confident and open conversations.
