About The Author
Ned Barraud
Gillian Candler is the author of At the Beach and In the Garden, and was the convenor of judges for the 2012 New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards. She was a teacher for many years, before moving into educational publishing with Learning Media, and currently works from home in Pukerua Bay as a writer and consultant. Gillian has always been fascinated by wild animals, and enjoys watching sea creatures while sailing or snorkelling.
NED BARRAUD is a talented illustrator with a passion for New Zealand’s wildlife. His work has been published frequently in the School Journal, and he illustrated At the Beach, In the Garden and The Earthquake and the Butterfly. He works at Weta Digital as a texture artist and lives in Wellington, spending lots of time by the sea with his three young children.
