About The Author
Nathan Short
Nathan (Nate) Short, PhD, OTD, OTR/L, CHT, is an associate professor of occupational therapy at Huntington University in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He received his OTD from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2009 and his PhD from Kingston University in London, England, in 2020. He began his career serving with the Indian Health Service (IHS) in Gallup, New Mexico, and has worked across the spectrum of practice including in acute care, rehabilitation, early intervention, and outpatient settings. He remains clinically active, primarily in occupation-based hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Additionally, he leads service-learning and research initiatives related to seating and mobility in developing countries. His research interests include technology, international service learning (ISL) as pedagogy, and hand and upper extremity rehabilitation, and he has published numerous research articles related to these topics. He enjoys traveling with his wife and daughter and is also a mediocre tennis player, scuba diver, and cyclist.
