Have you ever worn a jumpsuit to a party and wound up naked on the toilet, fuddled as a fart, belly rolls flopping, boobs sagging, wee exploding, all orifices on show for the world and God to bear witness?
No? Well you have not yet lived.
Soul is not just a noun; it’s also a verb. According to author Natasha Ritz, souling is the action we must take to unearth and experience the depths of our being in all of our vulnerability.

Critics Review
Nathan
“This is a fabulous & beautiful book. Tash is raw, honest and brave. Souling is part memoir, part compendium of spiritual/souling practices, part guide and part art project that is centred around asking the biggest questions - who am I, why am I, how am I, where am I, what am I?
The framing and prose felt like an invitation to become an active participant in how I read the book too - I related, I was challenged, I pushed back, I accepted. It opened a conversation with myself about my own relationship to myself and the ways I do (and don’t) allow for stillness to get into contact with myself.
An absolute must read!”
Editor, Blogger and Sales Rep at HarperCollins Australia, Camila Gonzalez Martinez review of Souling.
“The magic of being open about reading a broad range of books is that, once in a while, you find books that surprise you and move you in ways worthy of treasuring. My reality is that I read so many books that inevitably end up absorbing a lot of shitty writing, so I have learned to lower my expectations and most times I am successful at approaching a book with a pretty healthy dose of caution. This is exactly why when a book like Souling comes around, it leaves a mark.
Now, I have to say that I am a very spiritual person whose modus operandi is a ‘constant introspection’, sometimes to my own detriment. I am interested in observing, learning and trying to understand other people’s points of view just because I am wired this way, and that is exactly why Souling was the perfect book for me.
Although not your usual self-help book (and regardless of tweaks I would implement as an editor regarding the structure), I am sure there is at least one thing (if not dozens) that anybody can take away from it. Delving into several themes inherent to the human condition (like our capacity to form relationships, our judgemental nature, self-love or lack thereof, pleasure and even our understanding of death), it is one of those books I would highly recommend keeping on a bedside table at all times.
The book is divided into short chapter that cover a wider range of topics, some of which are interwoven with the author’s personal experience as a way of exemplifying her reasonings or illustrating certain points. Far from being a memoir, this book is still embedded with the type of vulnerability necessary too deeply connect with other fellow human beings, with also a nice and refreshing sense of humour.
Overall, Souling is a beautiful book full of spiritual ideas, concepts and passages that serve as invitations for wonderful thought experiments. I sure will be coming back to it from time to time to savour again its many bits and pieces.”
