About the Author

Muriel Spark (Author)Muriel Spark was born and educated in Edinburgh. She wrote poetry, stories, biographies, and a remarkable series of novels. She won countless awards, was made an an honorary member of the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, and in 1993 was given an OBE. She died in April 2006.John Lanchester (Introducer)John Lanchester is a journalist, novelist and winner of the Whitbread First Novel Award. He is a regular contributor to the London Review of Books and the New Yorker, with a monthly column in Esquire. John was raised in South-East Asia and now lives in London.
