Description

Born to a wealthy British family, Evelyn Cameron came to Montana with her husband in 1894 to raise polo ponies. To support the ranch, Cameron took in boarders and sold produce-but her most successful venture began when she ordered a camera by mail. Her crisp black-and-white images capture the rhythms of western life-cowboys truss horses for branding, children dressed in their Sunday best peer out the doorway, and housewives show off prized poultry. Evelyn Cameron's Montana offers a selection of the photographer's best work, handpicked from the Montana Historical Society Photograph Archive's collection. Each postcard is perforated for easy removal and mailing.
