About The Author
Moemoana Safaʻatoʻa Schwenke
Moemoana Safaʻatoʻa Schwenke is a proud daughter and custodian of Sāmoa and the Pacific Islands. An artist, dancer, environmental advocate, writer, director, and tutor at Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts Centre, Moemoana is deeply committed to preserving and promoting Samoan and Pacific culture. As Miss Sāmoa (2023-2024) and Miss Pacific Islands (2024-2025), she inspired and engaged thousands of youth across Sāmoa, teaching Siva Afi and Siva Sāmoa, while empowering the next generation to use their unique talents and cultural strengths to serve and protect their islands and communities. Raised in a family devoted to cultural preservation, Moemoana believes that our culture is our superpower and passionately advocates for youth, performing arts, education and climate justice across the Pacific and beyond.
