About The Author

Mitch Jones

Mitch Jones, aka Captain Ruin, is an award-winning circus performer, director, and cultural leader working at the intersection of the performing arts and punk culture. Alongside his global career as a punk-rock daredevil, he is an intrepid traveler and mis-adventurist, having entertained audiences and annoyed authorities on every inhabited continent.

As a writer, he draws on his experiences in subcultures and society’s margins to explore the social and political forces that shape how people live and make meaning from their lives. His narrative non-fiction essay “Gaffney Street,” about social disconnection in his home suburb of Coburg North, was shortlisted for the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Award in 2025. No Horizon is his first book.
