He has authored numerous works of fiction and nonfiction that have collectively sold over forty million copies globally, translated into forty-eight languages. He is the writer of eight #1 New York Times bestsellers, including Tuesdays with Morrie, the bestselling memoir of all time, which spent four consecutive years on the list and marked its 25th anniversary in 2022.

Albom’s writing extends to award-winning television films, stage plays, screenplays, a nationally syndicated newspaper column, and a musical. His contributions to journalism at the Detroit Free Press led to his induction into both the National Sports Media Association and Michigan Sports halls of fame, and he received the Red Smith Award for lifetime achievement.

Following his bestselling memoir Finding Chika and Human Touch, a weekly online serial that generated nearly $1 million for pandemic relief, he returned to fiction with The Stranger in the Lifeboat, which debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestsellers List and was previously #1 on Amazon. His highly anticipated new novel, set during the Holocaust, is slated for release in the fall of 2023.

Since 2010, Albom has managed the Have Faith Haiti orphanage in Port-au-Prince, providing a home for 60 children, and he visits monthly without exception.

In addition to his philanthropic endeavors, Albom works as a columnist and broadcaster. He has founded nine charities in Detroit and continues to operate the orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He resides in Michigan with his wife, Janine.
