Description

Introduction to the book, "Breaking the Mold"

My name is Mike Adams. I have written a book titled "Breaking the Mold". I have 3 patents relative to mold remediation, as well as 20 years in the Industry. I am a certified mold remediator, and certified commercial building inspector and have treated over 3500 homes for mold toxicity. Breaking the Mold is a book about the following:

Coming to the realization that traditional mold remediation is inadequate, and the realization that mold is throughout the home, and explaining that simply relying on current testing methods do not come close to giving anyone definitive information relative to the moldiness of their home or office.
How we (my family and I)created a market and patented equipment and processes for a relatively unknown method of whole house mold remediation, requiring a complete paradigm change away from traditional, ineffective mold remediation. I discuss the Company from its infancy through an incredible growth period, along with my Sons role in growing it into what is now with over 160 licensees in the US, Australia, Canada and the UK.
It describes in detail WHY traditional remediation is not the answer with the inherent flaws in their protocols.
It discusses "mold load", which is a term I coined a few years ago which explains how mold, unlike bacteria, continues to increase in a home or building. Along with this, I discuss the building/construction changes our Country has made the past 40 years, which have made mold toxicity within a home a huge health issue. Once someone understands mold load, it is very easy to see why traditional "containment and tear-out" methods are ineffective.
I write about the general health symptoms and relate stories behind customers who were sick from mold toxicity. I relate their stories of attempting to get relief by "spot remediation" and finally finding success in whole home remediation. Additionally, I discuss WHY the Medical world is struggling to understand the health effects of mold toxicity, or why they simply ignore it, and tell the customer that it may just be in their head. It includes experiences I have had which have led to my current understanding of how mold gets a stronghold within a home, and why family doctors may never get a grasp on mold toxicity.
Building a business from scratch, and the trials, and mistakes that accompany anyone trying to build a business. This also references personal trials, and the unwavering support of my family.

And finally, I discuss throughout the book my opinions on why people within the mold industry are so resistant to new ideas, providing examples of current well known markets, or products, which at one point were scoffed at, and are now mainstream wonderful companies or products. General resistance to change also includes the Disaster Companies current business models, the insurance industry, and lastly, human natures resistance to a new idea.
