Summary
Who’s in Charge?: Reclaiming Free Will in the Age of Neuroscience
The prevailing orthodoxy in brain science suggests that physical laws governing our brains dictate our behavior and even our conscious selves. Free will is deemed meaningless, and we are said to live in a ‘determined’ world.
However, renowned neuroscientist Michael S. Gazzaniga challenges this view. He argues that the mind ‘constrains’ the brain, much like cars are constrained by the traffic they create.
