A groundbreaking, in-depth exploration of cardiovascular research, embryologic perspectives, and physiologic understanding that opens a door to far-reaching osteopathic clinical applications.
A groundbreaking, in-depth exploration of cardiovascular research, embryologic perspectives, and physiologic understanding that opens a door to far-reaching osteopathic clinical applications.
Osteopathy Is in the Blood is perfused with osteopathic wisdom. This important work presents new and perhaps unexpected knowledge about the blood and vascular system of vital importance to bodily function. Drawing upon cutting-edge science, biodynamic embryology, and perceptive insight, it presents a wealth of information to guide new approaches to treatment.
Many concepts, key to understanding how the cardiovascular system and movement of the blood works, are presented utilizing extensive visual aids and supporting research. A few of the key concepts expounded in the book are:
The book draws on and synthesises the work of many innovative scientific thinkers, including Viktor Schauberger, Gerald Pollack, Francisco Torrent Guasp, Bjorn Nordenstrom, Irving Dardik, and Brian Freeman.
This text is aimed at integrating scientific principles with osteopathic practice, opening doors to very real and successful clinical applications. These present-day scientific discoveries also serve to explain what practitioners feel, sense, experience, and work with in their osteopathic treatments. The inspiring thoughts and theories offered reveal completely new therapeutic possibilities for osteopaths to work with in the cardiovascular system and throughout the body. The book also supports the scientific basis of the profound insights that Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of osteopathy, described 120 years ago. The research demonstrates that the founding principles of osteopathy are fully backed up by modern scientific understanding.
Osteopathy Is in the Blood is an invaluable reference text for all osteopaths, and it also serves as an essential companion to The Rule of the Artery courses offered around the globe. Studying these concepts will challenge osteopaths to think more deeply about and work more effectively with the blood and circulation, which is fundamental to exploring the full potential of all that osteopathy has to offer in the enhancement of health in our patients.
This groundbreaking book is a quantum leap forward in osteopathic philosophy and practice. It presents an in-depth exploration of current cardiovascular research, embryologic perspectives, and physiologic understanding that opens a door to far-reaching clinical applications. The reader will find the scholarship definitive and the book to be one of the most valuable to appear in the past 50 years of osteopathy. Prof. Hollis King, DO, PhD (USA)
Perfused with osteopathic wisdom, this important work presents new and perhaps unexpected knowledge about the blood and vascular system. Drawing upon cutting-edge science, biodynamic embryology, and perceptive insight, it presents a wealth of information to guide new approaches to treatment. John Lewis, DO (UK) (Author of A.T. Still: From the Dry Bone to the Living Man)
An invaluable reference text for all osteopaths, this book contains extensive research demonstrating that the founding principles of osteopathy are fully backed up by modern scientific research. Studying these concepts will challenge osteopaths to think more deeply and work more effectively with the blood and circulation, which is fundamental to exploring the full potential of osteopathy to enhance health. Liz Hayden, DO (UK)
I highly recommend this book, which utilizes extensive visual aids and research to explain the interconnected relationship between embryology, anatomy, and physics in osteopathic practice. Christiane Topf, DO (Germany)
This book offers a much-needed explanation of what we as osteopaths feel in our work but have not always been able to put into words. The inspiring thoughts and theories presented reveal completely new therapeutic possibilities for osteopaths to work with the circulatory system. Noori Mitha DO, FSSCO (Germany)
Understanding that osteopathy is indeed in the blood, as this book so eloquently lays out, will transform how you think and practice in your daily work with patients. Rachel Brooks, MD (USA) (Editor of the works of Rollin E. Becker, DO)
These teachings have been pivotal in deepening my work with patients, helping me to achieve tremendous restorations of health, especially in those seriously ill. The founders of the Rule of the Artery work are dedicated, insightful thinkers, and they have graced our profession and patients with a precious gift. Ilene M. Spector, DO, FCA (USA)
Maxwell Fraval, LLB, DO, MOsteoSc(Paed), came to osteopathy via a significant career change inspired by inner guidance. Later, when he was in practice, he developed a particular dedication to the treatment of babies and children after successfully treating his baby son, who had projectile vomiting. Witnessing the success of osteopathic care in young patients is, for Maxwell, an ongoing source of wonder at the strength of the response that can be achieved with osteopathy. He has been on a continuing journey of discovery into the benefits of osteopathic treatment throughout his long career.Maxwell trained at the British School of Osteopathy and subsequently joined its Board of Governors. He also served on the board of the General Council of Registered Osteopaths in the United Kingdom (UK) before moving to Australia in 1983.Maxwell has taught and mentored generations of osteopathic practitioners. He began teaching undergraduates in the UK in 1979, and in 1985, after relocating to Australia, he joined the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) as a part-time lecturer. RMIT was the first university in Australia to run an osteopathic degree course.Maxwell is a founding member of the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation of Australia and New Zealand, which was established in 1990 as a vehicle for teaching postgraduate courses. In 1993, he pioneered the first osteopathic paediatrics program (leading to a master's degree) in Australia at RMIT. Since 2001, Maxwell has taught Rule of the Artery courses in Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, UK and several European countries. Michael Solano, BAppSc(Osteo), DipEd(Sec), BSc(HM), graduated as an osteopath from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University in 1992. His previous studies include a Bachelor of Science from Melbourne University, where he majored in psychology and human movement, and a Diploma of Education. Michael has been in general osteopathic practice for 32 years. In 2005, Michael began his deeply impactful studies with the anatomist-embryologist Dr Brian Freeman. He later went on to organise and teach international seminars on the biodynamic approach to embryology.Michael has been involved in undergraduate teaching in the university setting and at the Osteopathic Summer School held by the Australian Research College of Osteopathic Medicine, an educational organization. He has taught postgraduate students through the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation of Australia and New Zealand, Osteopathy Australia, and the Rule of the Artery program.Michael's passion for exploring the therapeutic implications of embryological dynamics results from his understanding that the biomechanics of the embryo are also the construction and repair manuals for human form and function.
