About The Author
Matthew A. Cherry
Matthew A. Cherry is an Academy Award winner for the animated short Hair Love and author of the New York Times bestselling children’s book of the same name. He created the animated series Young Love and directs television series, feature films, and music videos. A Chicago native, he began his career as an NFL wide receiver before transitioning into entertainment.
Vashti Harrison is the author-illustrator of the New York Times bestselling books Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History, Dream Big Little One, Little Legends, and Sulwe by Lupita Nyong’o. She earned her BA from the University of Virginia with a double major in Media Studies and Studio Art, and received her MFA in Film and Video from CalArts. There she rekindled a love for drawing and painting, and now utilizes both skill sets to craft beautiful stories in both the film and picture book worlds.
