Calling Barnsley: Unheard Voices of a Town
The streets of Barnsley are full of unheard stories.

Founded in Barnsley in 2014, LUNG is a campaign-led arts charity, co-founded by Helen Monks and Matt Woodhead, working across the UK to make hidden voices heard. Based in Yorkshire, they are Creative Associates with the National Theatre and partners with The Lowry in Salford. Their previous shows include The 56 (about the Bradford City stadium fire; adapted for BBC Radio 4), E15, Who Cares, Trojan Horse (about the impact of Prevent on Birmingham’s Muslim community; later performed in Parliament), Woodhill and The Children’s Inquiry. They have run proactive campaigns for change, and produced educational resources, alongside each of these projects.
