Mary-anne Scott was born in Hastings, NZ, into a large family of nine children. Her mother, Joy Watson, authored the award-winning Grandpa's Cardigan series. Reading and music were her main interests as she grew up and everyone in the family learned at least two instruments. Mary-anne is married with four sons, and lives in Havelock North. Snakes and Ladders is her first book.
