Marta Araujo Castro

Marta Araujo-Castro, MD., PhD., is an endocrinologist at the Endocrinology and Nutrition Department of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, Spain. She serves as the coordinator of the Neuroendocrinology & Adrenal Unit within the Endocrinology Department. Her primary clinical and research interests lie in pituitary and adrenal gland disorders.

Dr. Araujo-Castro is the principal investigator and coordinator for several significant studies, including the ACRO-SPAIN Registry, the SPAIN-ALDO Registry, and the PHEO-PARA-RISK Study, all under the auspices of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology & Nutrition (SEEN). She has been recognized with multiple awards for her work on adrenal and pituitary disorders such as Cushing’s syndrome, acromegaly, adrenal incidentalomas, and pheochromocytomas.

She is the current coordinator of the adrenal diseases group of the SEEN, a member of the scientific board of the Aldosterone Producing Adenomas (APA) working group of ENSAT, and the coordinator of the Pituitary Committee at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital. Additionally, she is the principal investigator for the Endocrine-Metabolic, Digestive and Nutrition Surgery group at the Instituto Ramón y Cajal de Investigación Sanitaria (IRYCIS).

Dr. Araujo-Castro has authored over 150 Medline-listed manuscripts, which have been cited more than 1000 times.

She is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the SEEN, the European Endocrine Society (ESE), the Spanish Group of Neuroendocrine Tumors (GETNE), the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors (ENSAT), and the Endocrine Society. She frequently presents her research on adrenal pathology at national and international congresses.

Furthermore, Dr. Araujo-Castro is a professor for the master’s degree in Endocrine Oncology Pathology at TECH University. She holds a master’s degree in Research Methodology in Health Sciences from the Laboratory of Applied Statistics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Diploma in Statistics in Health Sciences, also from UAB.
