Marnie Hawson
Aleesha Callahan
Aleesha Callahan is a design journalist, editor, and the founder of About Futures – an independent publication tracing a new era of sustainable design. With more than a decade in design media, she’s the former editor of some of Australia’s most respected architecture and design titles, including Habitus, Australian Design Review, and Indesign Live. Her writing has been featured in Green Magazine, Est Living, and Harper’s Bazaar. Through About Futures, Aleesha documents the groundbreaking homes, materials, people, and processes redefining what the built environment can look like when it’s designed for the future. Aleesha is also the co-host of Creative or Dead, a podcast that interviews creatives about their process and practice.
Marnie Hawson
Marnie Hawson is a former environmental scientist turned photographer, using two connected paths to support nature through the built environment. Through her photography practice, she only photographs design that matters – sustainable architecture, green infrastructure, and regenerative landscapes – projects that tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, and deliver housing that’s good for people and planet. As a Certified B Corp – currently the only photographer in Australia – her work helps architects and designers show what responsible, future-focused design actually looks like. Her second venture, Wild Houses, is a one-to-one pledge program for the built environment industry: for every project delivered for people, one nest box is funded for wildlife. She is also developing a biodiversity toolkit to give architects and designers practical resources to take real action for nature, beyond just carbon. Both sides of Marnie’s work are about changing the story and the system – showing what good looks like, and helping others make it the norm.
